In 21st Century, the U.S. - China relationship is known as one of the most important bilateral relationship. The 2011 “ Sino-US Joint Statement” confirmed that the two sides will work together, building a China-US cooperative partnership of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win.

As the two largest economies in the world, the development of Sino-America relation is an important part of the development and changes in the world relations. The reopening of relations over the past 40 years, with the joint efforts of several generations of Chinese leaders and the United States government, bilateral relations have maintained a momentum of steady development. Now, Sino-US relations has become one of the world’s most important and energetic bilateral relationship.

As the each other’s second largest trading partner, the U.S. - China bilateral trade volume reached US $446.6 billion which is 182 times than in the period of the diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the U.S., the personnel exchanges has grown from about 10000 people each year to 10000 people a day. Now there is a flight between the two countries every 26 minutes. More than 160000 Chinese students study in the U.S. and 24000 America students stay in China.

Both countries have built the new US-China strategic and economic dialogue, the high-level consultation on people-to-people, the strategic security dialogue, the consultation on Asia-Pacific Affairs, the Middle East affairs, the governors forum and a number of important dialogue mechanism. Each department, each level of daily communication is innumerable. Among them, the China-US Investment Expo. is a  vital platform for private business, which played an important role in promoting the China-US non-governmental economic exchanges.

As Chair of Congressional Asian Pacific Caucus (CAPAC), I have the great privilege of speaking on behalf of Asian Americans all across the Unite States. This expo will serve as a bridge for hundreds of business people from both the Unite State and China to come together and build beneficial business relationships at home and abroad. With this in mind, I would like to commend the China-U.S. Investment Expo for its tremendous work, not only to build investment opportunities between our two nations but also to create a channel of communication for mutual understanding and economic integration.

It is with great enthusiasm that I extend a warm welcome to all those who have gathered here in Los Angeles for the 2013 China-U.S. Investment Expo.
